Confirm that a user in Ghana controls the phone number they gave you, before you link a MoMo wallet, release a payout or reset a password.
MTN, Telecel and AirtelTigo numbers are written 024 123 4567 locally and +233241234567 internationally. Send either; with the local form, add country GH. A number from another country with country GH is refused, so a typo cannot send a code to the wrong market.
You are charged when the code goes out and refunded in full if it cannot be delivered. Checking the code is free. Codes expire after ten minutes by default and stop working after five wrong attempts.
Mobile-money wallets are tied to a phone number, and SIM-swap and recycled numbers are the usual route into someone else's wallet. A fresh code at the moment of a sensitive action proves the person holds the SIM now.
