Ghanaian apps onboard people who pay with mobile money, sign up with a Ghana Card or a passport, and expect a text message the moment they ask for one. IdentifyOrg gives Accra fintechs, marketplaces and campus platforms one API for SMS codes, document and selfie checks, priced in cedis.
The Ghana Card is issued by the National Identification Authority (NIA) and is now the main national ID. A direct Ghana Card lookup is on our roadmap and will arrive as its own endpoint. Today you can verify a person in Ghana by reading their Ghana Card, passport or driver's licence photo with document OCR, checking it is a live person with liveness detection, and matching the selfie to the photo on the document.
Most Ghanaians use MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash or AirtelTigo Money, so a phone number is often the main identifier. Verifying that a user controls their number before you link a wallet is the single most effective control against SIM-swap and account-takeover fraud. Ghana mobile numbers are written 024 123 4567 locally and +233241234567 internationally.
BVN verification, NIN verification, Driver's licence (FRSC), Bank account name check, BVN to account match, CAC business registry check, Credit bureau score, Bills (airtime, data, electricity, TV), Business payment gateway (collections) depend on Nigerian records and are available for Nigeria only.
