Kenyan products are built around the phone number: M-Pesa, Airtel Money and a national ID that most adults carry. IdentifyOrg gives Nairobi startups, saccos and lenders an API to confirm a phone with an SMS code and to check an ID document and a selfie, with prices shown in Kenyan shillings.
Kenyans are identified by the national ID, issued through the Immigration and Citizen Services system and now being replaced by the Maisha Namba digital ID programme. A direct national ID lookup is on our roadmap. Today, document OCR reads the ID card, liveness proves a real person is present and face match compares the selfie to the card photo.
Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019 is enforced by the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner and requires you to register as a data controller or processor where it applies. We store only a salted hash of each SMS code and return match results rather than keeping raw identity data, but your own obligations as the controller still apply.

BVN verification, NIN verification, Driver's licence (FRSC), Bank account name check, BVN to account match, CAC business registry check, Credit bureau score, Bills (airtime, data, electricity, TV), Business payment gateway (collections) depend on Nigerian records and are available for Nigeria only.

Phone verification works with Kenyan mobile numbers in the form +254712345678 or 0712345678 with country KE. Delivery depends on our carrier route for Kenya, which an admin can change without a deploy.
