WhatsApp selling for developers: orders from your website or app

1. Create a test key in API Keys and add your business details under Take Payments.
2. When a customer places an order on your site, call POST /v1/orders from your server with your own order number as the reference, the customer's details, and the items (a name and price each, or a product from your list).
3. Send the customer to the checkout_url in the answer. They pay by card, bank transfer or USSD.
4. Add a webhook under Webhooks and tick the order events. When the customer pays you get order.paid. Mark the order paid from this event only, never from the page the customer returns to.
5. When you ship, call POST /v1/orders/{id}/fulfil. To tell the buyer on WhatsApp at each step, add your approved WhatsApp number and the customer's phone number to the order.

• Sending the same reference again returns the same order and never a second payment, so retries are safe.
• With a test key nothing is charged, and test and live orders are kept apart.
• The same event can arrive twice: keep the event id and ignore a repeat.
