Your first API call in ten minutes

1. Create a test key under Developers, API Keys.
2. Keep it on your server only. Never place it in a web page or a mobile app.
3. Make a request with the key in the X-IdentifyOrg-Key header:

The first call needs no key: price lists are public. The second needs your secret key and returns a test answer with "livemode": false.

Read the answer

• status tells you how it went.
• cost is what a live call would cost. In test mode nothing is charged.
• is_test confirms it was simulated.
• Errors come as {"error": {"code", "message", "status"}}. Use the code in your program and show the message to people.

When your screens and error handling work, go live (see 'Test mode and live mode') and add a webhook so your system hears about results without polling.
