App Store Screenshot Sizes in Plain English: iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Fold
Apple's screenshot rules now cover newer iPhones, 13-inch iPads, Apple Watch and fold-style devices. Here's a simple map of what to upload where.

The screenshot section of App Store Connect looks simple until you open it. Suddenly there's a list of device sizes, each with its own pixel dimensions, and a red error message if yours are off by even one pixel.
As Apple releases new devices, it adds new size groups. So let's make a plain map of what goes where.
One small note: always double-check against App Store Connect itself, because Apple changes requirements from time to time. Think of this as a friendly guide, not the final word.
iPhone
Apple groups iPhones by screen size. For the current larger iPhones (the 6.1" and 6.3" groups), these portrait sizes are accepted:
| Orientation | Pixel size |
|---|---|
| Portrait | 1206 × 2622 |
| Landscape | 2622 × 1206 |
| Portrait (alternate) | 1179 × 2556 |
| Landscape (alternate) | 2556 × 1179 |
In practice you provide screenshots for the largest group you support, and App Store Connect scales them for smaller phones. You only need separate art if you want it.
Fold-style iPhones (the big inner screen)
Foldable-style devices have a much wider, squarer screen, so the sizes are different:
| Orientation | Pixel size |
|---|---|
| Portrait | 1398 × 2034 or 2007 × 2853 |
| Landscape | 2034 × 1398 or 2853 × 2007 |
iPad 13"
The 13-inch iPad is high resolution:
| Orientation | Pixel size |
|---|---|
| Portrait | 2064 × 2752 |
| Landscape | 2752 × 2064 |
If your app supports iPad, you need these. Releasing a universal app without iPad screenshots is a very common reason for rejection.
Apple Watch
Watch screenshots depend on the size of the watch case. The accepted sizes include:
| Dimensions |
|---|
| 410 × 502 |
| 422 × 514 |
| 416 × 496 |
| 396 × 484 |
| 368 × 448 |
| 312 × 390 |
Pick the size that matches the watch group you're submitting for.
Rules that save you from rejections
- Use the exact pixels. Close doesn't count.
- Don't stretch. Squashed or stretched screens look wrong and get flagged.
- No transparency or rounded corners baked into the image file.
- Show the real app. You can add a marketing frame, but people must recognise the product.
- Match your supported orientation. If your app is portrait only, don't upload landscape shots.
- Keep a source file at the largest size and make the smaller ones from it.
Creating the whole set without the pain
Doing this by hand means a dozen export presets and a lot of patience. Our generator makes these sizes for you, including iPhone 6.3" and 6.1", the fold group, iPad 13" and the Apple Watch sizes above, along with every Google Play size.
- The quick way: upload one image to the store asset generator.
- Different art per device: use the batch generator in your dashboard, add an image for each group, and get one ZIP back.
- From your build scripts: call the API.
