Getting Your App Store and Play Store Images Right Without a Designer
You've built the app. Now the stores want your icon and screenshots in a dozen exact sizes. Here's how to get them all from a single image.

You finished the app. It runs, it looks good, and you're ready to launch.
Then you open the Play Console or App Store Connect and hit the part nobody warns you about: the images.
Google Play wants launcher icons at several different sizes, a feature graphic, phone screenshots, and, whether or not you own one, screenshots for 7-inch and 10-inch tablets. Apple wants a big 1024×1024 icon and its own sets of screenshots for each type of device. Every one has exact pixel dimensions. Get one slightly wrong and the console politely tells you to try again.
So you open a design tool and start resizing. An hour goes by. Then two. There's a better way.
What the stores are asking for
| Store | What you typically need |
|---|---|
| Google Play | App icon, feature graphic, phone screenshots, plus 7" and 10" tablet screenshots |
| Apple App Store | App icon (1024×1024) and screenshots for each device type you support |
The sizes also change over time as new phones and tablets come out, which is one more reason not to do this by hand.
One image in, a full set out
Our App Store Asset Generator works like this. You upload one image: your logo, a splash screen or a screenshot. We give you back a zip containing every size, in folders named the way each store expects. You pick Google Play, the App Store, or both.
You get:
- Icons at every size and screen density.
- A feature graphic for Play.
- Phone screenshots at the right proportions.
- Tablet screenshots built to the right ratio.
"But I don't have a tablet!"
Neither do most people, and you don't need one. Upload your phone screenshot, and we build the tablet versions from it at the correct proportions on a softly blurred background. We don't just stretch it, because stretched screenshots are one of the classic reasons listings get rejected.
When you'd like different art for each size
A single screenshot stretched across every slot is fine for a first pass, but it isn't always the best look. For more control, the batch generator in your dashboard gives every required slot its own upload: iPhone, iPad, each Android device type, Android XR, Chromebook, the icon and the feature graphic. Then it hands back the whole submission as one ZIP.
We keep these sizes up to date. For the newer Apple devices, see App Store screenshot sizes in plain English.
A quick checklist before you submit
- Icon: square, at least 1024×1024. For iOS, no transparency, and keep important parts away from the edges.
- Screenshots: show the real app. A short caption can help explain a feature.
- Feature graphic: one clear message and very little text. It has to be readable when small.
- Style: use the same colours and look across the whole set.
- Languages: if you support more than one, plan screenshots for each.
- Rules: avoid misleading images, other companies' logos, and device frames the stores don't allow.
Why generate instead of resizing by hand
- It's exact. Every size is pixel-perfect, every time.
- It's fast. Seconds instead of an afternoon.
- It avoids rejections. Correct ratios and no stretching.
- It's repeatable. When you update the design, regenerate the whole set for your next release.
Everything runs on our own servers, and nothing is kept after the conversion, so your unreleased designs stay private.
Try it
Open the asset generator, drop in an image and download your zip. If you build apps for a living, you can also call the API from your release scripts. And if you only need icons, the app icon generator makes iOS, Android and web sizes from one square image.
