WhatsApp codes and updates for your customers

One-time codes (OTP)

Use a code to prove that a person owns the number they gave you, for example at sign-up, log-in or before you accept an order from your website. You ask us to send a code to a number, your customer types it on your site, and you ask us to check it. Codes expire in minutes, are limited to a few tries, and are never stored in the clear.

Updates your customers expect (service notices)

A service notice tells a person something about their own order, booking, delivery or vehicle, even if they have not just written to you. It is never for ads or marketing.

1. Contact us and tell us about your business and what you will send. We look at it and switch service notices on for your number.
2. Send each notice with your customer's number, your text, your own reference and a confirmation that they agreed to get these messages (opted_in).

• Every notice ends with a way to reply STOP. A person who replies STOP is never messaged by your number again (START turns it back on).
• The same reference is sent once, so a retry never messages someone twice.
• Limits keep your number safe: 5 notices a day to one person, and 500 a day for the number, unless we agree another figure.
• If a number is not on WhatsApp, the answer says so, so you can send an SMS instead.
